A custom dog collar can be a size or width we don't list, a metal or plastic buckle, an embroidered name and phone number, or a matching piece for every dog in the house. To ask for one, send your dog's neck measurement, the print and hardware you want, and a sentence or two about the idea, and we'll come back with the details before you pay anything.
That's the short version. Here's what's on the menu and how to fill in the request so nothing gets lost.
What can you ask for in a custom dog collar?
The custom order page lists the main options:
- Custom neck sizes and widths. For the dog who sits between sizes, has a very thick neck, or needs a wider strap than the standard one for their size.
- Metal or plastic buckles. Metal is the default on our collars. A plastic buckle is lighter and some owners prefer it for dogs that swim.
- Embroidered names and phone numbers. Stitched into the strap itself, so there's nothing to unhook.
- Engraved dog tags and custom vinyl. If you'd rather have a tag, or want lettering or a design added another way.
- Matching sets for the whole pack. The same print for every dog, or a different one each so you can tell them apart at a glance.
You can also ask for a colour you've been hunting for. The form has boxes for leashes, matching sets and engraved tags too, so one request can cover the whole outfit.
What measurements should you send?
The neck measurement is the one that matters most. Wrap a soft tape measure around your dog's neck where the collar naturally sits, then add two finger widths. Write the number in inches, to the half inch if you can, like 15.5.
A few tips so the number is right:
- Measure with your dog standing, not lying down. The neck changes shape when they curl up.
- Measure over the coat, not pressed into it. Fluffy dogs need the tape resting on the fur.
- If you're ordering a harness style, measure the chest too, around the widest part just behind the front legs.
- If you're not sure, measure twice and send both numbers.
The size guide has the full charts if you want to see where your dog falls before you write in.
What else should you put in the request?
The form asks for a few simple things. Each one helps us get it right the first time.
- Your dog's name and breed. Mixed breed is fine. Breed tells us a lot about neck shape and coat, which affects the width that sits best.
- What you're looking for. Tick every box that applies: collar, leash, matching set, engraved tag, embroidery or vinyl.
- Colours, patterns and hardware. Be specific. "Sage gingham, brass hardware" is more useful than "something green".
- Your idea, in your own words. Mention the occasion, the width you want, any personalisation and links to anything that inspired you.
If you want embroidery, type the exact text you want stitched, with the spelling and capitals as they should appear. Embroidery is $2 a letter. Put the phone number first if space is tight, since a number gets a lost dog home and a name alone doesn't.
What happens after you send a custom order request?
We read it, then get back to you by email with the details. That's your chance to check the size, the print, the hardware and the spelling of anything we're stitching.
No payment is needed until you approve the details. If something needs changing, reply and say so. It's much easier to fix a detail in an email than on a finished collar.
When it arrives, check the fit straight away. You should slip two fingers under the strap, and the collar shouldn't slide over your dog's ears. If it isn't right, get in touch.
When is a custom dog collar worth it over a standard one?
Most dogs fit a standard size, and a ready-made collar is the quicker route. Custom makes sense when:
- your dog's neck measurement sits right at the edge of two sizes
- you want a width that isn't standard for that size, like a wider strap for a strong puller
- you want a specific colour or hardware finish we don't stock
- you're kitting out several dogs and want them coordinated
- it's a gift and you want the dog's name on it from the start
If none of those apply, start with a standard size and add embroidery as you order.

FAQ
Do I have to pay when I send a custom order request?
No. The request is free and no payment is needed until you've seen and approved the details we send back.
Can I order a custom leash to match a custom collar?
Yes. Tick both collar and leash, or matching set, on the form and say you want them in the same print. You can add embroidery to the leash as well.
What if I don't know my dog's exact neck size?
Measure with a soft tape where the collar sits and add two fingers, or measure the collar your dog wears now from the buckle to the hole you use. Send what you have and tell us how you measured.
